Immunotherapy for Cancer (English Version)
Summery: This article contains informations about the very important role of the immune system in fighting tumor diseases, as well as information about a new natural product that strongly activates the immune system. Stimulating the immune system by tumor diseases and chronic viral infections is considered to be highly desirable.
However, it must be stated, that the aforementioned product is not a cancer medicine, and it certainly cannot replace a commenced cancer therapy.
Usually our immune system has the ability to recognize cancer cells at an early stage and destroy them completely. However, the accumulation of toxins, heavy metals and medications with aging weakens this ability, and therefore allows the development of tumor diseases.
The goal of immune therapy is to restore the full functionality of our immune system through modulation with natural substances. Once the immune system is able again to fight tumor cells adequately, cancer patients will have the chance to recover completely.
2. How does the immune system fight cancer cells?
The immune system reacts on newly created cancer cells by releasing immune messenger substances (cytokines), which activate particular killer cells. These activated cells are capable of attacking and killing off cancer cells directly. Some of the most important immune messengers are Interleukin 2 (IL-2), Interfer. Gamma (INF-γ) and Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha (TNF-α). These cytokines have, besides the ability to activate killer cells, an antiviral as well as an antitumoral effect. Cancer diseases are associated with a shortage of these cytokines!
Interleukin 2 (IL-2): IL-2 is the most important cytokine of the specific immune response (TH 1). It is exclusively produced from T-helper cells (CD4) after stimulating or getting in contact with an antigen-presenting cell (APC). Its task is not only to increase and differentiate helper cells, but to stimulate B cells (antibody production), cytotoxic T cells and the Natural Killer cells. Furthermore it can activate the macrophages. This is why Interleukin 2 is considered to be the most important immune substance, especially when it comes to defeating tumor diseases. Due to its special effect, Interleukin 2 is used for therapeutic purposes against cancer diseases in the mainstream medicine, which nonetheless costs several tens of thousands of Euro per month.
Interfer. Gamma (INF-γ): INF-γ is another cytokine of the specific immune response (TH 1). It is produced by cytotoxic T cells and T helper cells after stimulating or getting in contact with an antigen-presenting cells (APC). Natural Killer cells, which are related to nonspecific (native) immunity, produce INF-γ as well. Interfer. Gamma has the capability to increase the functionality and cytotoxicity of effector cells massively. It has a powerful immune-stimulating, antiviral and anti-tumor effect, and therefore it is used by the mainstream medicine as a treatment of cancer and chronic viral infections, which is associated with high costs as well.
Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha (TNF-α): TNF-α is the most importante cytokine of the native immunity and is mainly emitted by monocytes and macrophages upon stimulation. Through viral replication inhibition, TNF-α has an antiviral effect, and through indexing the programmed cell death, it has an an extraordinary antitumoral impact.

3. How does an immune reaction proceed upon recognizing a tumor cell?
Once an immune cell recognizes a tumor cell (so called antigen-presenting cells (APC)), it produces the cytokines Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha and Interleukin 12. While Tumor Necrosis Factor-α directly attacks tumor cells and triggers the programmed cell death (innately), Interleukin 12 triggers the acquired (adaptive) immune reaction through activating the T-helper cells (see Fig. 1)

The T-helper cells represent the control center of the specific immune reaction and Interleukin 2 is their most important Instrument. They release Interleukin 2 upon contact with antigen-presenting cells, which leads to producing more T-helper cells. Moreover, Interleukin 2 enhances the function of T-cells (T-Killer-cells; CD8+), the Natural Killer cells and Tumor Infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL). Due to the release of interleukin 2, T-cells are capable of attacking and killing off tumor cells. Interfer.-Gamma which is release from T-cells as well as Natural Killer cells bring an intensification and continuation of the specific immune reaction (see fig. 1)
In a nutshell, a successful tumor defense takes place only upon a smooth collaboration between the specific and nonspecific immune system, where the cytokine Interleukin 2 and Interfer.-Gamma (master cytokines of the specific immune response) as well as Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha (master cytokine of the nonspecific immune response) play a crucial role.
Because tumor diseases are accompanied with shortage of these cytokines, a successful tumor therapy is only possible by stimulating the production of these cytokines
4. Which natural substances can stimulate the immune system?
There is a wide number of natural substances that are capable of stimulating the immune system and thus the increasing of tumor fighting cytokines. These substances are called immune modulators. Vitamin C, Zinc, Mistltoe, Thymus preparations etc. are among these modulators. Their effect on the immune system is however very limited, as we will see later.
5. How can the effect of a modulator be quantitatively measured?
Nowadays the stimulative effect of immune modulators can be determined in the laboratory, where particular immune cells are confronted with a modulator and the quantity of released cytokines are subsequently measured. The results show clearly the expected success of a modulator compared to other modulators. The one that releases the highest quantity of tumor fighting cytokines (IL-2, INF-γ und TNF-α) is the most effective and it must be used by tumor patients for stimulating the immune system.
6. The comparison between the modulators’ effects:
Many immune modulators were tested with regard to their immune stimulating effect at Dr Meri Institute in collaboration with an accredited immunology laboratory. These modulators are: 1.Artemisia, 2.medical herbs, 3.Alpha-Lipoic acid (ALA), 4.Vitamin C, 5.Selenium, 6.L-Arginine, 7.Zinc, 8.Glutathione (NAC), 9.Mistletoe, 10.Thymus, 11.Cimetidine, 12.Ribomunyl, 13. Astragalus, 14. Gum arabic and 15.DMI.
6.1. Releasing of Interfer. Gamma (INF-γ):
Figure 2 shows the effect of immune modulators on a 49-year-old patient with regard to releasing INF-γ. The modulator DMI was the only substance that was capable of highly stimulating the immune system and releasing a large amount of of INF-γ (34 pg/ml). From other modulators shows Mitletoe only a moderate effect (4 pg/ml).

It must be mentioned at this point, that the amount of INF-γ relleased by DMI is nearly equal to the amount released by the specific immune system of a healthy person when fighting an acute influenza infection (i.e. maximun possible amount).
6.1. Releasing of Tumor Necrosis Factor-Alpha (TNF-α):
Figure 3 shows the effect of immune modulators on a 49-year-old patient with regard to releasing TNF-α. The modulator DMI stood out from the rest of modulators by stimulating the immune system and letting it release 6329 pg/ml of TNF-α. Medical herbs, Artemisia, Cimeditin and Vitamin C managed to release 435 pg/ml, 14 pg/ml,13 pg/ml and 2 pg/ml of TNF-α, respectively.

Both figures show a sensational impact of the natural product DMI concerning its immune stimulating effects, which is many orders of magnitude higher than that of other modulators. Hence DMI effect is guaranteed for reaching the desirable stimulation of specific and non-specific immune system.
Remark on Mistletoe and Thymus Compounds:
Mistletoe and Thymus compounds are widely used by many doctors in Germany as a standard alternative cancer therapy. These two very costly compounds released hardy any or no cytokine (Fig 2 and 3) and thus have negligible to no immune modulating effect.
7. Activation of Natural Killer cells:
Natural Killer cells represent a very important subgroup of cellular immune system and play an essential role in fighting tumor diseases. The main function of these cells is to monitor and terminate degenerate tumor and virus-infected cells without the need to be activated by other immune cells before. They belong to the nonspecific (native) immune system. Other immune cells can, however, activate natural killer cells too through releasing cytokines (cf. Sec. 6).
The NK cells catch all degenerate cells and destroy them immediately. This ability is referred to as the Killing Rate (KR) and it is measurable nowadays in the lab, where these cells (that belong to a patient e.g.) are isolated then by cancer cells in vitro confronted. The percentage of dead cancer cells within a period of time is the KR value of the patient. Normally cancer patients have a very low KR value, and need, therefore, a stimulation or activation of their NK cells through natural substances.
When NK cells are activated, they produce a particular molecule on their surfaces. This molecule is referred to as CD69-Expression and it indicates the fitness of these cells. The higher the CD69-Expression is, the higher the activation degree of NK cells are and consequently the more cancer cells will be destroyed. The CD69-Expression and the activation degree of NK cells can be increase naturally. Some of natural substances are vitamin C, Shiitake mushroom, Biobrane etc.
Fig. 4 shows the effect of different modulators on the CD69-Expression of NK cells of a 49-year-old patient. While vitamin C and Shiitake showed a decrease of the index (from 7 to 3 and 5 respectively), Mistletoe and Biobrane achieved a little higher values (from 7 to 8 and 9 respectively). Only DMI modulator was able to increase the CD69-Expression heavily (from 7 to 19) which means that DMI almost tripled the activation degree of NK cells.

The last example shows that a blind use of modulators without a prior measurement can cause negative consequences (vitamin C lowered the CD69-Expression and therefore weakened the NK cells avtivity!), which can lead to fatal results to a tumor patient.
8. Summery of the results
The results shown in sections 6 and 7 show clearly that the immune modulator DMI have two main impacts on the immune system:
Impact Nr. 1: It activates powerfully both the specific and nonspecific immune system. The activation is measurable through the release of INF-γ and TNF-α. These cytokines have an enormous anti-viral and anti-tumor effect, and in addition they activate NK cells of the immune system, which can fight tumor cells effectively.
Impact Nr. 2: It has a direct effect on the NK cells and boosts their activity through the increase of the CD69-Expression.
Both effects of DMI intensify each other, so that an extraordinary activation of the immune system is reached. The activation degree is many orders of magnitude higher than that of other modulators which are used by main stream medicine by default (vitamin C, Mistletoe, Zinc etc.). Some of these modulators have even a negative effect (vitamin C and Shiitake mushroom weaken the NK cells activity e.g.)
9. Product DMI
DMI is a natural product that consists of several plant ingredients and is made through a complex production process, through which it can unfold its sensational effect on the human immune system. This product is offered in 2 versions: DMI and DMI Forte.
10. Which patients can profit from DMI?
Patients who take a conventional cancer therapy can enormously profit from DMI. It will activate the immune system as a collateral therapy and prevent immune weakness through chemotherapy, i.e. a possible relapse will be avoided.
In addition, patients, whose conventional therapy did not bring any positive results, will benefit from DMI too. DMI will help restore the functionality of their immune system after chemotherapy.
Individuals who might be genetically affected (in case of existence of a cancer patient in the family), who are older than 40, can profit from the extraordinary immune boosting (and therefore cancer preventing) effect of DMI.
11. Can other patients benefit from DMI?
Yes, other patients can benefit from DMI, e.g. patients with chronic virus infections (EBV, CMV, HHV6, hepatitis B+C, HIV, Herpes etc.) as well as patients who are infected with intracellular pathogens (chlamydiaceae, borrelia, mycoplasma etc.), TBC, candida etc.
